Even though we are faced with the stigma of the "mail order bride", love can only be confirmed when you meet your Russian Woman face-to-face. When you see your Russian Woman and your knees still go weak after writing endless passionate letters to each other, be assured that somehow, deep inside there still is something called "true love". When I went over for the 1st time to visit my Ukrainian woman (now my wife), I felt so scared. I have traveled a lot internationally in my live, but going to the former USSR (Ukraine) did leave a small nervous sense in me. Rest assured this is normal, she will also be very nervous!

Here are 10 Steps For Having a Successful 1st Visit With Your Russian Woman:

Consider it a vacation: During the prior months, write to a few Russian women that you have an interest in – not too many. Pour your heart into every single letter individually. Then when you go and meet them for the first time, look at it as a few days in a new country while meeting some interesting people. Do not focus too much on making something fit, that might not fit. Destiny will take care of the rest for you and you will have a wonderful time.

Be open to all possibilities: When I started my search, I wanted to only meet Russian women who spoke some English. Somehow, I was drawn to this one lady so strongly, but she spoke no English. Today she is the biggest joy of my life, my Ukrainian wife. Do not be limited by the language bridge. Finding a good soul and beautiful heart is extremely hard in life, but a language is something that can be learned.

Be gentle and kind to her at all times: The Russian women are very tender and kind. Their hearts soft and beautiful. Show her respect at all times, even when you do not understand her very well – especially when you do not understand her.

Treat her like she is "the one": One thing you have to understand is that Ukrainian Women who consider marrying a man from abroad join dating agencies. They do get lots of letters and they do go out on many dates with men that visit their country. Having said that, they do know what they want in a man and when a Russian woman finds "her man" you will know it! You will feel it in every moment that you are together. So remember, treat her like she is already your beloved wife and she will see how wonderful a man you will be to her. In the American way of doing things, we first date then go to the next step. Now do things differently and show your commitment to her from the beginning (if you love her of cause).

Get an apartment for yourself: Even after writing several passionate letters to your Russian Woman, it is wise to get your own apartment while you are there. Firstly it gives you privacy and if the 2 of you want to cook together on a date you can do that too. This way she has the freedom to go if she so pleases. When I met my wife, we loved to go and buy food together and come back to the apartment and cook together. It is simple and intimate and you already get a taste of life together.

Get an Electronic Translator: This little device can help the 2 of you so much. I love the products by a company called Ectaco. They are pricy, but when you sit down and talk to her without an interpreter being present, it will make things much easier. If you have found your "true love", consider giving her the translator. It will help her very much in the months to come when she studies English.

Look out for reciprocity: Just like in all relationships reciprocity is key. Since international relationships are expensive and difficult it is even more important to look to mutual reciprocation right from the start. The same with your letters, when you write to her, always be conscious if she responds with equal energy as you did to her.

Expect to fit the bill: In Russian culture the man pays for the meals at a café or restaurant. So forget the idea of "going dutch". Also be aware, it is very common for Russians to order several dishes at once, including desert. Just be conscious of this.

Show interest in her life: When you meet someone for the 1st time it is sometimes easier to talk about things you know. Russian women are very family-orientated and showing interest in her family will be a beautiful thing to her. If you can, take some photos of your family along. [SIDEBAR: Photos of your latest and greatest possessions will not impress her.] As I mentioned earlier, if she belongs to am agency she will have lots of dates. Do not ask out too much about this. Treat her like she is the "one and only" here and now! She would not be too interested to talk about "past" relationships.

Have Fun: You are spending lots of money to meet new people and see a new country. Enjoy every moment of it. Do simple things like breakfast in the part or go bowling. Russians love to go walking in the park. Some of the most intimate moments for them can be experiences when 2 people are simply together.
